SHROPSHIRE COMMUNITY MESSAGING
Shropshire Community Messaging is a computerised communication system run by Shropshire Division of West Mercia Police. Shropshire Community Messaging offers local residents, neighbourhood watch co-ordinators, businesses, farms, schools and partnerships information and alerts about crimes, incidents and events in their local area. West Mercia Police are committed to involving the community in policing throughout Shropshire. We believe that by improving the flow of information between the community and its police we can all make a greater impact in the prevention and detection of crime and anti-social behaviour.
You do not need to join a specific ‘watch’ scheme but you may find that there are like minded residents or businesses in your area who would welcome your support. If you want to find out more about joining or forming a Watch scheme contact your local Administrator on the details provided below. Schemes such as Neighbourhood Watch and Rural Watch are already operating in Shropshire, with Shop watch, Business watch, Horse watch and Pub watch all under development.
- The service is free to everyone.
- You can choose to receive information by SMS text, Voice message or email. You can also choose whether to receive all messages relevant to you, or only emergency messages.
- Help tackle crime in your local area by receiving relevant information and alerts, such as witness appeals, information on suspicious activity, and crime trends in your area.
- Messages will also contain helpful crime prevention information to help you keep yourself and your property safe.
